Update // Well, as it turned out, Ulquiorra wasn't dead after all at the end of 351. But then, as it turned out, he dies for good in 353, after everything had looked plausible that he was healing and going to continue the fight, making me break down over his death a second time. Not only that, but -- of all things -- UlquiHime (my most hated pairing in Bleach, don'tcha know) was actually HINTED at in his last moments.

Thanks, Kubo. Thanks. I kinda really hate you now.

At least I read your manga online so you didn't get any profit from me actually buying them, bastard.

This journal doesn't get its 'evil will always triumph' header, because evil didn't triumph. And in response, I have a little message for a certain someone. It's not like they'll actually read it, and frankly I could care less, but as usual I enjoy using my journal to get copious amounts of pent-up rage off my chest.

Dear Tite Kubo,

Congratulations!

You lost a reader.

When killing off one of your most popular villains, I suggest in the future that you grant them an end that strays farther from the realm of "pathetic and undeniably shitty". I also recommend you give viable explanations for imbuing your main characters with copious amounts of ridiculously-overblown power as a result of their returning from the dead. Additionally, "The Power of Love" is not enough to reverse the cessation of all bodily functions in an individual, nor is "The Power of Being A Main Character". I hope you will take these things into consideration as you continue writing Bleach, should you wish for your massive fanbase to remain massive.

In other words?

Ulquiorra deserved better. Thanks for attempting to make Ichigo look like a complete and total badass at the expense of his life, because it only made me hate him more and stop reading your series. Also, thanks for killing off all of the following characters that I felt made your series worthwhile:

MARCHING BAND STATE FINALS.

WE GOT FOURTH AT STATE FINALS WITH A SCORE OF 79.35. SEVENTY NINE. HOLY JEEZUS CHRIST.

This is, y'know, considering we only got eighth last year and sixth the year before, and the year before that we didn't even go. The best the band has ever done was eight years ago, where they won Finals with an 83.65.

Dude. WE WERE ONLY 4.2 POINTS AWAY FROM THAT SHIT. I THINK THAT QUALIFIES AS EPIC WIN.

Rather than going to ridiculous extremes such as creating massive hate clubs and flaming people in a bitchy, failtastic way, I am going to rant to you all about something and I really don't give a damn if you read it or not. WOOHOO.

Four words, god damn it.

CHRONA. IS. A. BOY.

I will not debate it. If you respond to this journal in argument, I'll ignore you and probably be a little pissed. Earnestly? It's unproven. And I'm betting that it'll never really be proven, simply due to the ungodly amounts of Soul Eater fans that will be pissed off one way or the other unless Chrona's kept gender-free. So if you want to be super canon about it, Chrona is "unknown".

But I really don't care. He's always been a boy to me, and it pisses me off because every time I look up art of him, I find a bajillion pictures of him in frilly mini-dresses, making out with Maka. Just because he's "not a boy" does NOT automatically make him a girl, people. You guys are fucking with canon by drawing him like that, and though I suppose everyone has their right to their own opinion, that does not magically give Chrona boobies. Have you seen his chest? THERE IS NOTHING THERE. ABSOLUTELY NOTHING. IT'S FLATTER THAN A FUCKING IRONING BOARD. Even if he WAS proven to be a girl, that doesn't make them magically appear; they're not there in canon, regardless of what gender Chrona is. And yet half the pictures I see have added a "little something" to "her", and I can never like those pictures because they're all wrong in my eyes.

I suppose it's rather conceited of me for telling off others for picking a gender, and you're probably right on a lot of counts. Gimme a break; I feel like a huge minority here (since WAY more people think Chrona's a girl), and want to let my voice be heard and... hell. I want to diss on the people who think Chrona's a girl. Really, I do. You could say that, as a straight female Chrona fangirl, I don't want him to be a girl because then I'd have a crush on someone the same gender as me, which isn't something my mind would enjoy comprehending. You could also say that I have always earnestly believed in my idea of his gender, plain and simple, and that I don't like to be contradicted. Or you could make up your own explanation for why I'm being nasty about it. I really don't care. I'm ranting, and I'm not insulting you personally if you do believe Chrona's a girl. I just hate the idea of it.

Moving on, moving on. Next point: The transformation of Chrona from "bad guy" into "good guy". This has nothing to do with any artist or fan out there; this is a bone I'd rather pick with the creator of Soul Eater, and though I know something like that would never happen and that I can't change the story he created, there's still something that pissed me off royally.

Get this. Maka walks into a church, sees Chrona. They talk, she finds out that Chrona murderized like 60 people and fed their souls to his Weapon, Ragnarok. She's angry as all get-out; they fight, she gets owned, and her own Weapon, Soul, nearly gets killed. A while later, they run into each other again, and once again Maka initiates the battle. She then proceeds to beat the living shit out of Chrona repeatedly, try to EAT HIS HEAD, run his FACE over the side of a SCYTHE BLADE, stomp on his downed body, and invariably be totally cruel to him. Sure, they're battling, and yes -- she DID lose her mind for some of that -- but that doesn't change the fact that she was pretty damn horrible to him.

And then, what does she do? She tries to "get in contact with his soul", pacify him, and hug him through a field of needle-sharp blades even though he almost killed Soul and was subsequently responsible for epic angst and hatred. Chrona, on the other hand, who had just been mutilated by Maka, is easily subdued and instantly becomes her best friend even though he's lived an abused, neglected life and totally hates people.

WHAT.

Epic fail. The Power of Being A Protagonist ruins a great character and storyline yet again! Good work, mangaka!

And thus, I don't read or watch Soul Eater anymore. Kept up with it for a while, and really, Chrona's not even the same person. He's not the psychotic, passive-yet-corrupted little androgynous stick of a kid that I originally loved, and it's extremely disappointing. It's the writer's story, sure, but I think I'm free to say that I think that he totally screwed up what could've been a long, ongoing struggle between antagonist and protagonist by giving Maka god-like empathy even though she's kind of a cold, studious bitch.

Rant end. Oh, and by the way, you really didn't have to read any of that. Also, don't flame me. I'm unleashing my opinions in a flood of hellfire, but I'm not going after you. If you don't agree with me, keep it to yourself. Or go write your own rant journal! That's what I do. Obviously.
