Ladies and gentlemen, I'm honored to present to you my finest work yet. And damn, am I ever proud of it.
Originally this was going to be a picture of Sarian, Noz and Xai together in a sort of cover-stance (seeing as they're the main characters of the first part of my story). However, the pose Sarian and Noz were in really stole the picture's attention, so I devoted it to them instead. And hey, I never did actually do one of the two of them -- so it all worked out. I think they're cute together :3
I tried a bit of a different style with this one, straying away from spiky, dark lines and trying to make the characters look more human. Well, as human as Noz can get, anyway. I might use this style in other pictures, but it really depends on the scenario, I think. Either way, I'm rather fond of how it looks.
Media: Prismacolors and watercolor. Time: About seven hours, I think.
Any comments on this one will be much appreciated; it may not be fanart, but I'd have to say this is my best work as a whole. And I DID waste an hour of my life drawing the grass, so that should say something. God I hate backgrounds ><

DO NOT TAKE THEM WITHOUT PERMISSION. I WILL EAT YOU. SERIOUSLY.
I'm glad you said right-up that this is your best work to date, because I was going to say that anyway ^_^ Of course you don't want to use the style for everything, but depending on the nature of the drawing it's a gorgeous style. Far more realistic, extremely detailed, soft and almost grainy. How much is watercolor and how much is pencil?
LOL, I like how the cuts of their shirts mirror each other--was that intended? Yes, the grass is stunning and the dandelion in the sidewalk crack is a wonderful touch! And the way Sarian's bellybutton shows through her shirt, haha. Sarian's face draws me the most, though. The tender expression and the look in her eyes feel very, very alive. (Plus she's effing gorgeous in the picture, damn I would hit that!..but could her skirt possible get any shorter? ^_- lol)
How big is the picture in actuality? If it's 8x10 or something approximating standard, I want a color copy of it as my birthday present this year, and I will frame it and put it in the wall ^_^. Not kidding. Seriously. That's what I want. Do it.
The angle of her hand is nice, too. And Noz' hair and pants. Since I ought to offer something constructive, though, I will say that unless Sarian is skipping (and it doesn't look like she is, totally), more of her right calf should probably be shown extending back. But trust me, that is a very TINY issue. I remain stunned by the picture. Am so proud. You can probably tell because I've written about six paragraphs.
When are you going to post Sound of Silence, work on my commissions, and e-mail me back? Happy Thanksgiving!

I knew you'd like this one ^^ Really. I was waiting to hear your comment on it. I impressed myself on how much I could change my style depending on the scenario, especially since I haven't drawn anything major in a long time.
Both Sarian and Noz are done in pencil, and the background is all watercolors -- except the blades of grass, which are also pencil; there's a green wash under them so I didn't have to color them all individually. Still took a while, though.
I never noticed that their shirts were alike that way O_o; Well, Noz's long sleeve only goes to t-shirt length, and Sarian's goes all the way down to her wrist, but I still see your point. I've had a lot of people say they like the dandelion, heheh. Mom loved it.
I'll agree with you that Sarian in this picture is the best part of it. I'm very certain that she's the best female I've drawn to date by a long shot, and I never thought I could actually be GOOD at drawing girls since I don't mess with them much. If you look at some of the older pictures of her, you'll probably notice that I made her outfit less insane, a little more real-looking. Though her skirt got shorter from then, yes. xD~
It was done on a piece of crappy computer paper, so it's... well... however big a piece of crappy computer paper usually is. I can definitely get a copy made for you, if you're sure that's what you want. Makes my life pretty easy, actually.
I don't really know WHAT Sarian is supposed to be doing in this picture. Maybe she IS skipping? She seems to be kinda leaping to Noz's side... I never really thought about it, I just liked the pose. I understand what you mean about her leg, but I really don't know since even I'm not sure what she's doing exactly. Eh heh.
I'll post Sound of Silence when I feel like finishing it, and I'll email you back now if you want. :3
Wow, it is maybe your best. I really like the colors, shading, the characters' poses and expressions, and all those little details. The grass, by the way, is mad.
Oh wow, now I feel stupid, I somehow didn't notice her foot protruding from behind her skirt. That clears up the issue in my mind. Crap, that means your skills have surpassed my ability to comment, because I got nothing else.
Crappy piece of computer paper is the size I was thinking of, so yes, that would be fine. It requires you to take the trip to Staples and make a nice color copy, but it should only run you a couple dollars and I'll be very happy with it!
Alex looked too, and was likewise impressed. He loved how happy Noz looks! I think he shook his head and said "She is way too talented." And that the grass was sweet.
Yes, I did notice the style of Sarian's clothes changed--the same sense of fun/freaky/bright remains, but they look like something she can actually wear and move in! And yeah, you've come a long way in drawing women since your first attempt.
